ALPHA YOUTH SERIES
I came across this series in our archdiocese website under Evangelization called Alpha Youth Series.
What is Alpha?
Alpha Youth Series is a series of interactive sessions exploring life, the Christian faith and its meaning. It runs all around the globe, and everyone's welcome. Alphas have three key things in common: food, a talk (where you can play an episode of the Alpha Youth Series) and good conversation. Reimagined for today's youth culture, each episode looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Each video is under 30 minutes.
This series is a great tool for creating a welcoming atmosphere and announcing the Kerygma. Yes, this term is unfamiliar to a lot of Catholics or Christians. The term Kerygma (from the Greek keryssein, to proclaim, and keryx, herald) refers to the initial and essential proclamation of the gospel message in the process of evangelization.
It appears nine times in the New Testament: 1x in Matthew (12:41), 1x in Mark (16:20), 1x in Luke (11:32), and 6x in Paul’s letters (Rom. 16:25; 1 Cor. 1:21, 2:4, 15:14; 2 Tim. 4:17; and Titus 1:3). It’s the very core of the gospel, its message of the Christian faith as all believers are called to proclaim and refers to teaching, instruction, or doctrine.
Introduce a person to Christ and encourage conversion. This is a beautiful series. I hope the youths in your families or you yourself will tune into them. Thank you and God bless you.
