GLOBAL SYNODNAL 2021-2023
Adsumus, Sancte Spiritus
We stand before You, Holy Spirit
Prayer of invocation to the Holy Spirit for an ecclesial assembly of governance or discernment (thus synodal).
We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name. With You alone to guide us, make Yourself at home in our hearts; Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it. We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder. Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions. Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right. All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever. Amen. Synod of Bishops
The word ‘synod’ means ‘journeying together.’ As God’s people we discover his word; we discover our faith strength all the while in this journey together. His word accompanies us. We all have a priority in the Church of God with specific roles at hand.
Pope Francis has asked the Catholic Church to reach out to as many people as possible—whether Catholic or not—to listen to one another and share what “journeying together” means for the Church, for all of us. As we, the Body of Christ, the Body of the Church, we are blessed with many cultures; differences that create a beautiful union in Christ.
Let us share with each other as brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ our joys, concerns, difficulties and bring to the forefront to our priests, ministers, and pastors. Let us pray together. I pray that your place of worship is participating in this mission.
Let us listen to each other with respect, honor our differences, love one another as our Heavenly Father instructed us, his people…Be still and listen to the Holy Spirit. Invite him in, ask for discernment and guidance.
God bless you all.
